A meme is like a port in a storm. The internet is like the churning sea, scary, vast, and ultimately unknowable. It provides us with much, yes, but it also contains seemingly infinite depths that will make even the most seasoned sailor weak in the knees. You can spend days, years, decades, traversing its waves and still have only scratched the surface. And it can get scary out there. There are sea creatures that should never see the light of day, pirates ready to steal everything precious to you, and of course, sea madness.

Seeing a meme among the inky blue is to be reassured, at least temporarily, that you will be okay. It is a sign of life. It is a reminder that you are not alone.
